SV AT FIRST SIGHT – Still Cruising Menorca

Alredador Menorca (Around Menorca)

We did a circuit around Menorca, mostly under sail, covering 95 miles in 16 days.

We stopped in calas (coves) on every side of the island, visited the charming city of Ciutadella (the island’s original capital), visited ruins from the Bronze Age, and explored different areas on foot along the Cami des Cavalls, a horse trail built in the 1300s. Come explore with us, by checking out the post below at Medium.com.

  1. Another very interesting and exciting post, David. So look forward to your posts and reading about the adventures of you, Vicky and of course Saylor. How much longer will you all be sailing in the Spanish area of the Med?
    Keep the adventure coming.

    1. Hello Harvey. Thank you for your complimentary feedback.
I hesitate to say how much longer we’ll be sailing in Spain. Most of Mediterranean Europe is on lockdown, again, and so our plans keep changing. We are letting the public health recommendations here and in neighboring countries guide our decision making.
We are looking for an opportunity to sail toward Gibraltar in early 2021, if conditions are favorable.
Best regards to you and Charlotte.

  2. Good to read your news and glad you are enjoying our favourite of the three islands. How long do you plan to spend in Mahon?
We left Ione in Cartagena on 24 Oct, just before the next set of restrictions. We were hoping to go back in late Jan but now looks sensible to stay for UK vaccination programme so more likely now to delay until nearer Easter. So we may miss you.
Best wishes – Tony & Sarah

    1. Tony & Sarah, it’s wonderful to hear from you. Vicki and I are sad to have missed you in the Balearics and then again in Cartagena. We understand the bars and restaurants in Cartagena are closed now, and when we contacted the RCRC marina to discuss reservations, they suggested we remain in the Balearics awhile longer to let things settle down.
